Investing in Future Leaders: NDCP’s Partnership with Cristo Rey
At NDCP, developing people and investing in our communities goes beyond the work we do every day, it’s also about creating opportunities that can shape future careers and change lives. That’s why NDCP was proud to partner with Cristo Rey as a corporate sponsor for the 2025–2026 school year through its Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP).

Cristo Rey is a private, nationwide high school network that provides students from underrepresented communities with a rigorous college preparatory education combined with meaningful, real-world work experience. Through the CWSP, students spend one day each week working within corporate partner organizations, gaining professional exposure and practical skills that help prepare them for college, careers, and life beyond the classroom.
As part of the program, NDCP sponsored a team of four students representing each high school grade level: freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. Throughout the school year, these interns work alongside teams across the organization, gaining firsthand exposure to areas like Human Resources, IT, Finance and Operations while learning the value of collaboration, communication, and professionalism in a corporate environment.
For many NDCP employees, the experience has been just as impactful. Mentors across departments have found creative ways to introduce students to real business concepts, involve them in projects and meetings, and help them build confidence in their own abilities.
- “Through this program, we’ve had the opportunity to support students as they begin developing professional skills and gain exposure to a corporate environment. From an HR perspective, it’s been especially valuable to see how this experience helps students build confidence and responsibility, while also enriching our own teams through mentorship. We’re proud to be part of a program that prepares students for college and future careers.” Sherry McNeill, Senior Benefits Manager Benefits
- “This program is especially meaningful because many of these students come from diverse backgrounds and are driven to build stronger futures for their families. It provides valuable real-world exposure, something I can personally relate to.” Erick Diaz, Lead IT Systems Analyst
- “The program creates opportunities for students to gain meaningful real-world experience while allowing leaders across NDCP to mentor, teach, and think creatively about development. It’s rewarding to watch interns build confidence, connect concepts to real business challenges, and grow their curiosity along the way, while also helping us better understand and prepare for the next generation entering the workforce.” Yuki Kobayashi, Finance Supervisor and Erin Glass, Finance Senior Manager
- “This program gave me the opportunity reflect on my own leadership and communication skills. It creates a great balance between mentorship and learning. Interns bring fresh perspectives, curiosity, and energy to the workplace, while NDCP employees have the opportunity to help shape and encourage the next generation of professionals.” Gelisha Taylor, McDonough Senior HR Generalist
By opening our doors to these students, NDCP is helping provide experiences that can inspire future career paths while reinforcing the culture of leadership, mentorship, and community that continues to make our organization stronger.
