Roland Ornelas - Chief Commercial Officer

A highly respected leader in the sourcing, procurement and supply chain management industry, Roland Ornelas serves as Chief Commercial Officer for National DCP, LLC, (NDCP) the $2 billion supply chain management cooperative serving the franchisees of Dunkin’ Donuts. 

Ornelas has strategic oversight of the relationship with NDCP’s customers, partners, suppliers and vendors to effectively support the company’s supply chain, strategic sourcing and program management functions. His duties also include leading the company’s centralized strategic sourcing, procurement, contract and supplier management strategies, primary day-to-day ownership of the relationship among the cross-functional leaders of Dunkin’ Brands, and the development of new products and services.

With more than 25 years of proven sourcing expertise, Ornelas has played an integral role in transforming NDCP’s supply chain capabilities and maximizing cost savings by building a strategic sourcing function. His focus on innovation and continuous improvement has allowed the company to save members more than $340 million cumulatively since NDCP was formed, while providing an assured supply of key products. In addition, he has been instrumental in the creation of program management, which maximizes efficiencies by overseeing the execution of limited-time offers between NDCP and Dunkin’ Brands.

Throughout his career, Ornelas has transformed the sourcing and supply chain capabilities of significant players within the food and hospitality industries. Prior to joining NDCP, he served as the Vice President of Supply Chain for Wyndham Worldwide, managing the company’s multi-billion-dollar global purchase spend and delivering significant savings across the supply chain and multi-business units. In his capacity as Vice President of Supply Chain Management at O’Charley’s Inc., Ornelas delivered synergistic savings because of outsourcing their $300M self-manufacturing and distribution operation while reengineering a new supply chain organization consisting of strategic sourcing, quality assurance, food safety and sourcing operations. He also served as the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing for Carlson Companies, creating the successful strategy for all direct and indirect sourcing spend across their business unit, which included TGI Fridays, Radisson Hotels, Carlson Marketing Group, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Pickup Stix restaurants. In addition, Ornelas held leadership roles with Carlson Companies, PepsiCo, YUM Brand’s Supply Chain Cooperative (UFPC) and Havi Global Solutions.

Passionate about sharing his knowledge, the strategic sourcing thought leader delivered popular presentations during the 2017 and 2015 annual CPO Summits. Quoted as a subject matter expert in Gaming & Leisure Magazine, he also served as an advisor to Farleigh Dickenson University’s supply chain curriculum. Ornelas holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University.
